I watched West Side Story the 1961 at a movie theater.
The story appeared like a romantic fairy tale, though the sense of life fit with the world view.
Marni Nixon's singing voice was fairly different to Natalie Wood's own's when I think it was convincing that an ordinary girl was getting a presence like a stage star.
The fight scene was like a dance show rather than just a violent act.
I saw the 2021 version once, Leonard Bernstein's musical numbers was more suitable with this one.
